Title: MOBILIZING PARENTS AND TEACHERS FOR SCHOOL READINESS: THE PREDICTIVE ROLE OF PTA INVOLVEMENT IN BRIGADA ESKWELA

Abstract: This study determined the predictive role of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) involvement in the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela Program on school readiness in public elementary schools in the Balaoan District, Division of La Union. Utilizing Epstein’s Theory of Overlapping Spheres of Influence as the theoretical framework, the study employed a predictive correlational design with 100 respondents consisting of 50 teachers and 50 parents. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. Results revealed that the overall extent of PTA involvement was high (M = 3.54), with School Facilities and Environmental Preparation receiving the highest rating (M = 3.82) and Learner and Instructional Support the lowest (M = 3.22). School readiness was rated moderate overall (M = 3.32), with Availability of Learning Resources as the lowest dimension (M = 2.95). Significant differences were found between parents and teachers in both PTA involvement and school readiness perceptions, with parents rating both constructs higher than teachers. A strong positive relationship existed between PTA involvement and school readiness (r = 0.62, p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis revealed that three dimensions significantly predicted school readiness: School Facilities and Environmental Preparation (β = 0.32), Resource Mobilization (β = 0.20), and Community Partnership and Coordination (β = 0.17), collectively explaining 46% of the variance in school readiness. The findings affirm that PTA involvement is a substantive contributor to school preparation, with implications for strengthening stakeholder engagement, resource allocation, and capacity-building interventions in Philippine public schools.
