Abstract:
Vietnam is a country with studious culture and has seen a sharp increase in the number of high school students playing sports in recent years. Sports play an important role for each individual, bringing positive physical and mental health to students. The mental health of student athletes plays an increasingly important role in the context of Vietnam’s stressful and complex educational and cultural environment. The high school experience is a transformative period marked by identity formation, social connections, and the navigation of academic pressures. For student athletes, they have to balance time between studying and playing sport and this process is strongly influence to their mental health. Parents and teachers need to understand their children’s psychology so they can promptly support and intervene to help them complete their learning goals and participate in sports with good mental health. The research is based on a survey of more than 200 student-athletes to find out the difficulties and pressures they face in order to provide timely solutions. The study also contributes to improved understanding of the interrelationship between sports participation, academic needs and mental health.
