Abstract: This study investigates the impact of US partisan conflict on its import from 156 economies from 1981 to 2016, the results show that the rise of US Trade Partisan Conflict Index indeed inhibits US imports, especially for imports from East Asian economies, which is consistent with the history of US-Japan and US-China trade conflict. Our results remain robust after using alternative models. |
