Abstract:
Women’s entrepreneurial development is a good way of improving financial inclusion in developing countries due to the lack of employment opportunities. This will be made possible through the expansion of microfinance loans to women entrepreneurs and the provision of necessary support to the women in this type of enterprise to facilitate financial inclusion and develop the economy. Hence, the need to investigate the impact of microfinance on women entrepreneurs in developing countries cannot be underestimated. The objectives of the study are to (i) investigate the effect of microfinance loans on women entrepreneurs in developing countries. The study extracted secondary data from sixteen developing countries, covering 2014 to 2021. GMM regression models and the Wald test were employed to analyze the effect of microfinance loans on women entrepreneurs in developing countries. The study found a significant positive impact of microfinance loans on women entrepreneurs with (with p-value < 0.01). The study also noted that interest rates, inflation, gross domestic product and population have no impact on women entrepreneur development in developing countries.
